Bombshell Hump Day Hop!!

Hello! It's Hump Day which means it's the Bombshell Blog HOP for March!
The weather has been bad here in the UK with no sign of Spring yet so I've had a great excuse to hide away behind my craft desk and get inky!

Alison has a great challenge for us this month- I hope you want to play along remember to visit the Bombshell Blog for details- there's a Bombshell Stamp set of your choice up for grabs!

"Hello! It's time to announce the March Hump Day Hop Theme! The theme is "Stencil It In!" This month, I'd like like for you to use a stencil and your Bombshell stamps to create a project. Don't have any stencils? Create your own by free-hand cutting, die cutting, or punching an opening in cardstock or acetate and use the negative space as a stencil! Just look around your home...I'm sure you have all sorts of cool items that can be used as a stencil."

So here's my project:

I used Cherry Bomb , Classic Tattoo , & Dead Necessities Bombshell Stamp Sets.
Various Crafters Workshop Stencils which I used with modelling paste and spray inks.
Grungeboard letters, star and arrow covered in old book pages
Paper rose, Distress Inks and Glimmer Mists.

I hope you enjoy my project- I'll be posting a tutorial for it in a few days on the Bombshell Blog just to show you the stages it went through!

Now hop along to Kathi's Blog!!

Bombshell Hump Day HOP!- February!

It's the last Wednesday of February which can mean only one thing it's time for the HUMP DAY BLOG HOP!!!
This month Alison has come up with a theme to see of the winter blues!

"Greetings! If you would like to play along with the Bombshells February Hump Day Hop, you have found the right place! This month, the theme is "Some Like it HOT!" Figured after last month's "cold" theme, "hot" would be a good challenge to go with. "

Here's my project:

I used Wild Horses and coloured him with Spectrum Noir pens DR2, DR4, DR5, DR6, DR7, OR2
I created a background on a manilla tag with Distress Inks squidged onto the tag and blended with water, Glimmer Mists and Gold Perfect Pearl Mist. I stamped the flames and stars from the Tattoo Background stamp set in black in and embossed them.
I added wings from Maya Road coloured with Spectrum Noir pens and glittered with Rock Candy along with the Horse's mane and tail.

I think you can see in this shot that the whole tag has a gold glimmer from the mica sprays I used.

Here's the Blog Hop Blog Roll:

So now hop along to Kathi's Blog to see her awesome project!
Remember to play along and leave comments on the Bombshell DT's blogs for the chance to win a Bombshell Stamp set of your choice!

Bombshell Muse Monday -Final Week

This month is nearly over and today is the last week of the Bombshell Team's Stamp Set of the Month 'All my Heart'

Here is my project I created:

I stamped All my Heart onto a piece of cardstock that had been covered with pieces of foil tape.
I angled the tape in different directions to look like metal sheets overlaid.

After I stamped the image with Staz-On ink I used and embossing tool to go over the outline of the stamped image so it was pressed into the metal tape.
I did the same with the edges of the metal tape pieces too, and embossed pinpricks around each section to look like the metal 'plates' were riveted together.

I rubbed red acrylic paint into the stamped, embossed image and then wiped it off so that the paint went into the embossed lines.

Before I mounted the embossed image onto my patterned paper I decided to add some texture with some texture paste. Rather than use the texture paste as it is (white) I squeezed some paste onto a plate and then added a few drops of ink into it. I mixed the ink into the paste to colour it so tone with the patterned paper. Next I pressed the embossing paste through a harlequin stencil then I removed the stencil and sprinkled Rock Candy Dry glitter onto the wet paste. When the paste was dry I shook off the excess glitter and ended up with a subtly sparkled background.
I was really pleased with the effect!

So there you go! 'All my Heart' is a really cool stamp set and I can see myself using it lots as it has a cool vintage vibe as well as the more obvious 'love' theme!

Happy crafting!

Bombshell January BLOG HOP!!!

Baby It's Cold Outside!
Well another month has rocketed by and here we are at the last Wednesday of January which can only mean one thing...it's BOMBSHELL BLOG HOP time!!!

Alison's theme this month:

It's time to announce the January 2013 Hump Day Hop theme! I don't know about you, but I am cold!!! That's why I decided to make this month's theme "Baby, it's Cold Outside." Make a winter themed project, use the title of the hop as a sentiment, dress your Bombshell up in warm clothes (or not!), etc

Here in England we've just had a thaw from a week's worth of snow. People in other parts of the world who have snow regularly will laugh at how little snow brings the UK to a halt- we're really not used to a lot of snow!
So with the snow and the ice in mind I decided to go with the beautiful Koi from the Lotus Garden Bombshell set and created an icy pond.

I created a background for the Koi with Distress Inks, blending soft blue, pink and lilac together.
I coloured the Koi with Spectrum Noir pens LG1, LG2, LG3, HB1, HB2, HB3, IB1, IB2, IB3, BT2, BT3, BT4.
I cut out the Koi and stuck them onto my inked background.
I coated everything with a layer of crackle medium and immediately sprinkled on some DRy Rock Candy glitter. As this dries it crackles and shimmers because of the glitter rather like an iced up pond!
I covered some white paper with the crackle medium and sprinkled it again with glitter. When dry I used this paper to cut leaf die cuts from (I used QuicKutz Dies) I inked around the leaves edges with a pale blue Distress ink.
I mounted the Koi image onto the card and added the glittery leaves around the edges like a frame!

Muse Monday-King of the Road Week 4

At Bombshell stamps we've been featuring the King of the Road stamp set in our Monday feature Muse Monday.

This is a case of FIRSTS for me this week, this is the first time I've used King of the Road stamps and this is the first time I've tried the chalkboard technique!

To create a chalkboard effect you need to stamp with clear embossing ink onto smooth black cardstock and then emboss the image with white embossing powder.
Next stamp the images again, this time slightly offset in white ink, this gives a ghosted look as if you've drawn on a real chalkboard!
Use the white inkpad to lightly brush white ink around the edges of the black cardstock to make the card look 'chalky'.

I hope you've enjoyed our Muse Monday offerings this month pop back every Monday in February to see our new Muse from Bombshell Stamps!
