"Kids with their new colored pencils and cute backpacks remind me of how much I miss school….NOT.
But it did inspire this month’s blog hop. Please remember, if you can tie it into the theme…GREAT.
The theme for this month is Geography: Travel, foreign lands, exotic colors.
Maybe show us how your Bombshell would look if she came from an exotic land.
Maybe she would be traveling by motorcycle, or perhaps she would be a pilot.
She could even be a pirate avoiding scurvy and looking for an exotic date"

Here's my MEXICAN flavoured Fiesta card:

Here comes the Bride!

I saw a great challenge to use ONLY white over on the Incy Wincy Designs blog and thought immediately of my beautiful Bombshell bride stamp.
Out came my fave Cuttlebug Embossing folder 'Textile Texture' and transformed my SU cardstock into a thing of beauty!
'Lucky Bride' was lightly coloured using Copics B12 and B14 (I think!) a little pink and E00, E02, E11, R20, E21 for the skin tones.
I broke out my lace collection for that real Wedding dress too , there's glitter on her veil too but it does,'t show up too well in the photo!

She also fits the lovely 'Bride' inspired challenge over on ChickenSoup

Hope you like her!

Another vintage beauty!

I met a lovely lady who needed some space and so offered this on Freecycle.
I was the lucky crafter who now owns......

..ain't she a beaut?! Now named 'Dora'!!

The lady's Grandma was a seamstress and bought 'Dora' from new- she was made in 1894 (checked out the serial numbers online!) and with a little oil today she runs like a dream!!!

Happy days!

6 September 2010

New School

The 'Boy with the Hair' is off to BIG school today with Big brother!!

4 September 2010

Retro Goodness!

Procured this beauty on Freecycle (Yes for free!) last night- popped over to the next village to collect it!
It's a Royal 10 Typewriter from the 1930's!
The kids are fascinated and I love it's old world, dusty, retro charm!

3 September 2010

I've been revisiting alcohol inks this week and it was my turn over on IACW!

You will need:

Glossy cardstock

Alcohol inks

Ink tool applicator and felt pads

Straw or air can

Covered worksurface (it can be messy)

Stamps

Clear embossing powder

Embossing Ink

Heat Gun

Black Ink Pad -Archival Ink

An iron - yes really!

First technique is an oldie but a goody- alcohol ink resist:

First you need to stamp your image using embossing ink onto glossy card. Then clear emboss the image using embossing powder and your heat gun:

Then ink up your applicator with some alcohol ink and rub over the surface of the image:

When the image is fully covered put your iron on to HOT and place a piece of clean paper over your embossed image.

Iron over the image, through the clean paper.

This melts and removes the embossing powder, you end up with a lovely clear, white image:

I did this four times with different coloured inks to make:

I added some Primas, brads and glitter for a fun Fiesta themed card!

More fun with alcohol inks next time!

Happy crafting
